Chicago Bulls at Miami Heat Betting Odds

Opening Betting Line : Bulls +5 / Heat -5
Over/Under : 178.5

Game Time : 8:30 PM EST Sunday May 22, 2011 on TNT

The Heat won Game 2 and it was all about the 2 superstars for each team with LeBron James coming up big while Derrick Rose really struggled. James went for 29 points on 12/21 shooting with 10 boards whole Rose had 21 points, but only on 7/23 shooting. Overall the Heat played great defense in Game 2 holding the Bulls to 34.1% shooting. James came off a bad Game 1 performance to score 9 points in the last 5 minutes of Game 2 to put the Bulls away for good. Another reason the Heat won is that they did not get killed on the boards like in Game 1, as in Game 2. The Heat won the battle on the boards and won for the 8th straight time when doing so.

Miami not only covered the spread in Game 2, they won the game outright in convincing fashion and the posted total went Under.

This season the Heat are 47-46-1 ATS and the Bulls are 56-37-2 ATS. The Bulls have covered the spread in 2 of their last 3 road playoff games.

James did not do it all in Game 2 with Dwyane Wade scoring 24 points, reserve Udonis Haslem scoring 13 and Chris Bosh scoring 10. Haslem missed most of the 2nd half of the season and the beginning of the playoffs with a foot injury and his presence is huge for Miami.

Rose was not the only Chicago player that did not look like himself in Game 2, as Luol Deng and Carlos Boozer combined to only score 20 points on 8/25 shooting. Rose did have 8 assists in the game, but Deng and Boozer were only 2/9 on passes from Rose and that cannot happen again. Rose has to get these guys involved in the offense if the Bulls are going to win.

Basically, the Bulls need to forget about Game 2, as they could not shoot the pill, missed many easy shots, only connected on 3 of their 20 3-pointers, and were only 16/26 from the charity stripe. Chicago needs to attack the rim more and get some easy points from the free throw line.

Boozer and Joakim Noah not only have to play better on the glass, but better interior D since the Heat scored 50 points in the paint in Game 2.

The Bulls must convert on 2nd chance opportunities like they did in Game 1, as in Game 2 they had 17 offensive rebounds, but only scored 16 points going 4/13 from the floor after they grabbed an offensive rebound. Also, they have to convert on turnover chances, as they only scored 10 points off turnovers in Game 2 even though Miami turned the ball over 15 times.

In some betting trends for Game 3:

Miami is 5-2 ATS in their last 7 playoff games, 3-0 ATS in their last 3 home playoff games, and in their last 4 games at home in this post-season the total has gone Over every time.

Chicago is 6-4 in their last 10 playoff games and in their last 4 games in this post-season the total has gone Under 3 times.

Our Selection : The Heat as expected rebounded from an embarrassing 21 point loss in Game 1 with very spirited play. However, the Bulls helped the cause with shooting a poor 28/82 from inside the arc. Look for Chicago to have a better scoring touch in Miami in Game 3 and stay close throughout and possibly pull off the straight up win.
