Opening Betting Line : Mavericks -6 / Jazz +6
Over/Under : 202.5
Time: 9 PM EST Saturday March 26, 2011 on FOX ROCKY
The Jazz have been in a freefall since they traded away superstar Deron Williams and Jerry Sloan retired. They have lost 4 straight and with only 9 games left they have to catch fire just to make the post season being 4.5 games out of the last playoff spot in the West. The Mavericks will be in the playoffs and they are still in a battle with the Lakers for the 2nd spot in the West. The Mavs are one game back of the Lakers and they have won 2 straight and are 5-5 in their last 10 games.
In their last games on Thursday night the Jazz lost a heartbreaking game to the Hornets 122-117 in OT and Dallas beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 104-96.
Things just are not going Utah’s way lately and in last night’s game they had it in the bag, but Hornets C Emeka Okafor hit an off-balanced 20-foot bank shot as time expired to send the game to OT.
Dallas has been a better betting team on the season at 37-32-2 ATS while the Jazz are at 31-40-2. The Mavs have covered the spread in 5 of their last 7 games facing the Jazz.
The main player the Jazz got in the Williams trade is G Devin Harris (14.9 ppg), but he along with defensive stud F Andrei Kirilenko (11.9 ppg) are both questionable for this game due to injuries.
Dallas has won all 3 games against Utah this season and when the 2 teams met on February 23rd the Mavs killed the Jazz 118-99 in the Big D.
The Jazz shot over 50% from the floor in the OT loss to the Hornets, but their D killed them. They allowed the Hornets to shoot 50% from the field and 53.8% from beyond the 3-pt arc. In this game they cannot allow Dirk Nowitzki (23.4 ppg) and Jason Terry (16.3 ppg) to bomb away from deep.
Since the Jazz will be shorthanded in this game they will need good scoring games from Al Jefferson (19.1 ppg), Paul Millsap (17.2 ppg), and C.J. Miles (13 ppg). Jefferson has been playing well as of late and he is the leading rebounder for the Jazz (9.6 rpg), but he will need help on the boards. The Jazz only rank 27th in the league in rebounds per game.
Tyson Chandler (10.2 ppg 9.4 rpg) has been a rock in the paint for the Mavs this season and if he has a big game in the paint the Jazz will be in trouble.
In some betting trends for this Western Conference match up:
Utah is 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 games, 3-8 ATS in their last 11 home games, and has an Over record of 4-0 in their last 4 games.
Dallas is 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games, 7-2 ATS in their last 9 road games against teams with a winning home record, and has an Over record of 11-3 in their last 14 road games.
In the last 4 games between these 2 teams in Utah the total has gone Over every time.
Our Selection : The Jazz are likely to be without forward Andrei Kirilenko and guard Devin Harris leaving this team very short on depth. The Mavericks have owned this series of late grabbing the straight up and ATS win in the last 3. The points are manageable.

Dallas Mavericks at Miami Heat Odds 6-12
The Mavs are up 3-2 in this series heading to South Beach and for the Heat to force Game 7 they will have to play better in the 4th quarter, especially LeBron James. 5Dimes has the hometown Heat as 5-point favorites in Game 6 with a total of 187.
