San Antonio Spurs at Phoenix Suns Betting Odds

Opening Betting Lines: Spurs +2.5 / Suns -2.5 O/U 205.5

Time: 9 PM EST Wednesday May 5, 2010 on TNT

The Suns lead this best of 7 series 1-0.

Tonight the Phoenix Suns host the San Antonio Spurs in a Western Conference semifinals series. The Suns were able to play their style in Game 1 and won by 9 points. The Suns not only ran in Game 1 with 27 fast break points, but they also scored 56 points in the paint and shot just under 52% from the field. The Spurs are a solid defensive team, but did not show it in Game 1 and have to do so tonight or they will be heading back to the Lone Star State down 2-0 in this series.

This season the Suns were 32-9 at home and 47-34-1 ATS and the Spurs were 21-20 on the road and 43-39 ATS.

In Game 1 the Suns beat the Spurs 111-102 on Monday night.

The Suns played a great inside-outside game in Game 1, as PF Amare Stoudamire had 23 points and 13 boards and the backcourt duo of Jason Richardson and Steve Nash combined to score 60 points and were a combined 5/10 from 3-point land. These 3 players each shot well above 50% from the field for the game.

Richardson scored 27 points and was 3/6 from downtown and now Phoenix is 30-6 this season when he scores at least 20 points.

Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, and Tony Parker each had at least 20 points in Game 1, but the other Spurs’ players did not pitch in and help. Starting PG George Hill had 9 points on 2/9 shooting and Richard Jefferson had 5 points on 1/3 shooting.

The Spurs have to shoot the long ball better tonight, as in Game 1 they only made 4/19 of their 3-pointers.

The Suns did win the game, but they did commit 16 turnovers and they need to take better care of the rock tonight.

For the Spurs to win their 5th straight playoff series against the Suns they have to play better D and winning tonight’s game will give them a big advantage as they head home for Game 3 and 4.

Suns’ C Robin Lopez did not play in Game 1 and he has been practicing, but is still a game time decision for Game 2.
