Auburn (11-0) is the front-runner to represent the SEC West in the conference title game, but they still have some work to do against 11th ranked Alabama this week and 18th ranked South Carolina next week. The allegations surrounding QB Cam Newton have not seemed to be a distraction, as he has led the Tigers’ offense to 111 points in the last 2 games. Alabama will not be playing for the national title this year, but they still have an outside shot at a BCS game, but they need some help. Since losing to LSU a couple weeks back Alabama has won 2 in a row by a combined score of 93-17.

In their last games Alabama crushed Georgia State 63-7 and Auburn had a pretty easy time beating Georgia 49-31.

This season both of these teams are 7-4 ATS. While the home team has covered the spread in 4 of the last 5 games between these 2 SEC rivals the Tigers are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games against Alabama.

Auburn’s offense is all about Heisman favorite QB Cam Newton, who not only has 2,038 passing yards and 21 TD, but also leads the Tigers in rushing with 1,297 yards and 17 TD. Auburn’s strength on offense is the run with Newton and RB Michael Dyer (859 yards 5 TD) and even though Newton can air it out the Tigers’ passing offense ranks 77th in the nation while their rushing offense ranks 3rd. Alabama’s run defense ranks 22nd in the nation and they have to keep Newton and Dyer from racking up big yards on the ground. The Tide’s pass defense ranks 14th in the nation and if they can force Newton to beat them with his arm they have a better chance to win this game.

Alabama has a very well-balanced offense ranking in the top 40 in the nation in passing yards and rushing yards per game. The Tide offense is led by QB Greg McElroy and the RB Tandem of Mark Ingram and Trent Richardson, who has not played the last 2 games, but is likely to play this Saturday. While the Auburn offense has been stellar their D only ranks 50th in the nation. They are great at defending the run, but only rank 100th in pass defense and last week against Georgia they gave up 273 passing yards. If that happens again and McElroy has a big game through the air Newton and the offense will have to light up the scoreboard for Auburn to pull off the upset.

In some other betting trends for this SEC game:

Auburn is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games, 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games as a road underdog, and has an Over record of 5-1 in their last 6 games.

Alabama is 7-1 ATS in their last 8 home games, 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games as a home favorite of 3.5-10, and has an Under record of 4-1-1 in their last 6 home games.

Our Selection : The linesmaker opened this game at Alabama -4 and the public has been pounding the undefeated Tigers. However, the line on this game is creeping up to -4.5 at most online bookies. We're going to take the anti public side ourselves. The difference in this game is the Crimson Tide's passing offense versus the Tigers mediocre pass defense. Take Alabama -4.5 at 5Dimes
