In the Red River rivalry game this Saturday afternoon the 8th ranked Oklahoma Sooners face the 21st ranked Texas Longhorns. This game is still huge, but it lost a little luster since Texas was upset last week even though the rivalry still has BCS implications.
This Big 12 match up is being held at a neutral site in Dallas and that may be good for the Longhorns, who were killed at home last week.
This game features the 10th ranked passing offense of Oklahoma against the 6th ranked pass defense of Texas. Unlike the last few years the Sooners have really struggled on D, as they only rank 97th in the nation in total defense.
In their last games Texas was upset losing to UCLA 34-12 while Oklahoma beat Cincinnati 31-29 in a barnburner.
Heading into this Big 12 game both teams are 1-3 ATS.
Oklahoma and their great passing attack is led by QB Landry Jones, who was solid in the Cincinnati game going 36/51 for 370 yards with 2 TD and 1 INT. The great Texas secondary will have to play well against Landry's 2 main targets of Kenny Stills and especially Ryan Broyles and each of these WR's averaged at least 10 yards per catch last week.
Oklahoma's rushing offense has struggled this season, as they rank 88th in the nation. RB DeMarco Murray is a solid RB, but he did not play well in the win over Cincinnati, as he only had 67 yards averaging 2.4 yards per carry.
Texas' pass defense held UCLA to only 27 passing yards last week, but they were killed on the ground allowing the Bruins to rush for 264 yards.
The Texas offense committed 5 turnovers in the UCLA loss and if they turn the ball over against Oklahoma they will lose their second game in a row.
Texas is led by QB Garrett Gilbert, who had 264 yards with 1 TD and 1 INT in the loss to UCLA. He may have a big game against Oklahoma since the Sooners only have the nations 90th ranked pass defense and last week gave up 305 passing yards in the win over Cincinnati.
Texas only rushed for 85 yards last week and they are up against Oklahoma' 93rd ranked rushing defense.
Texas is 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games, 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games against teams with a winning record, and are 5-2-1 ATS in their last 8 Big 12 games.
Oklahoma is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games and has an Under record of 6-2 in their last 8 Big 12 games.
Texas is 4-0-1 in their last 5 games against Oklahoma.
Our Selection : The Longhorns got shocked last week at home versus UCLA. They'll have their hands full versus the Sooners, but they should be able exploit Oklahoma's porous run defense which is allowing 4.3 yards per carry. Take the Longhorns +4 at Bodog.
