New England Patriots, Cheaters or the Real Deal?
As sports bettors we all love to hate them! The New England Patriots who aspired to 2 Super bowls in the last 5 years always finish the season in the top5 teams….. One has to wonder why? Although coach Bellichick is reknowed for his football strategies could it be something more? Less than 2 days ago the New England Patriots coaching staff was caught filming the New York Jets coaching signals. The Jets losing to the Patriots in the season opener did nothing to heal the wounds between the two teams.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell fined Coach Bellichick $500,000.00 and the team an additional $250,000.00 on Thursday for violating league rules that prohibit clubs from using sideline cameras to videotape opponent's sidelines. As well as the stiff fines, New England will have to forfeit its 1st round draft pick if it makes the play-offs this year. If they do not, they will have to forfeit a 2nd and rd round pick.

A video camera was confiscated from a Patriots employee during the 1st quarter of the teams win over the New York Jets on Sept9, 2007.

The NFL has been riddled with scandals prior to the start of 2007-2008 season, including the Michael Vick situation, the suspension of several top players for misconduct and now this. It seems that although Goodell runs a tight ship the pirates are still running amuck.

Mike Vick Pleads Guilty To Conspiracy Charges

Embattled Atlanta QB Michael Vick entered a guilty plea to federal dog fighting charges today and will be sentenced on Dec 10, 2007.

Judge Henry Hudson accepted the guilty plea after asking Vick, "Are you entering this plea of guilty to a conspiracy charge because you are guilty?" Vick responded "Yes Sir".

U.S District Court Judge Henry Hudson emphasized to Vick and his attorneys that he is not bound by any sentencing guidelines and could well impose the maximum sentence under the law of 5 years imprisonment. He stressed that Vick was taking his chances and would have to live with the consequences of any decision made by the court.

Vick is slated to make a statement this morning at 11:30 EST. He will be focusing on his thoughts and feeling regarding his behavior and the charges brought against him.

NFL Commissioner Goddall has suspended Vick indefinitely without pay after his plea agreement was filed. The NFL guidelines include a possible lifetime ban when any player is found associating with gambling or gamblers.

Atlanta Falcons owner and management could possibly seek to recoup some of the 10 Year-$130 Million dollar contract signed in 2004 by Vick. It is estimated that they will be seeking compensation of $22 Million of Vicks signing bonus as he wasn't able to complete his end of the contract.

Legitimate Sportsbooks

The 2007-2008 NFL season is upon us and many US sports bettors are scrambling to find legitimate sportsbooks who still offer accounts to American players. Since last fall once the US Government passed into law the U which prohibits financial institutions from accepting funds or transferring funds to offshore gaming establishments it's been a hard haul on the avid bettor.

There are still a few excellent online sports books accepting US players and we have listed what you should look for when making a decision to deposit your gambling dollars into an online book.

Most sportsbooks offer an initial deposit bonus and some even offer reload bonuses. Most of them typically offer between 10% and 20% which means if you deposit $100.00 you'll receive an additional $10 to $20 in bonus dollars. That being said with the push towards the NFL regular season there are sportsbooks who are offering much larger deposit bonuses, one in particular is offer 50%. 5Dimes is one of the largest and most stable sportsbooks in the industry and offering this huge incentive to sign up just might send the bettors flocking their way. 5Dimes has always been known as a big stakes sportsbook; however in recent years it has expanded its player base to include lower limit players as well.

Some sports books offer better lines than others. On average the typical sports bettors can lose thousands of dollars annually betting poor lines. Have several offshore sportsbook accounts gives the bettor an advantage of finding better lines and thus saving dollars.

The amateur bettor who holds a single sportsbook account will lose an average of 25 bets a year unnecessarily

Although there is some hesitation from bettors to move to the internet from their local bookies there are advantages to having your account offshore. The single most important advantage is that a player can not bet more than they have in their account, ensuring he or she will not lose the farm on a single bet! Most reputable online sportsbooks are very financially secure and you can be guaranteed your funds are safe. Although you may have used your local bookie for years, he may not necessarily be above reproach and may not have the money to pay you out. "But will certainly take your money if you lose"
